The DKMS staff invites all our parents & guardians to our Back To School Open House on Tuesday September 17th, 6:00-7:00 pm. This is a great opportunity to meet your child’s teachers and tour the school!
Our Parents Advisory Council will also hold their first meeting of the new school year at 7:00 pm in the Library. All parents & guardians of DKMS students are invited!

Here is a breakdown of how this week is going to look:
Tuesday September 3rd: Grade 7 students only. 8:45 – 11:00
**Students will not need their school supplies today**
- 8:45 – 9:00: Students will circulate and find their TAG class. *Note: students may be in a different class than when they visited DK back in June. Up to date class lists will be posted outside the office, outside each Grade 7 room and in the YakShak.*
- 9:00-9:15: Students will meet their teacher and classmates
- 9:25: Welcome to DKMS Assembly
- 10:30 – 11:00: Students will return to their TAG class.
- 11:00: Students will be dismissed.
Wednesday September 4th: All Students attend. 8:45 – 2:10
8:45 – 8:55: Students will circulate and find their TAG class. Grade 8 students will have a new TAG and TAG room. Grade 9 students may have a new TAG or TAG room. Up to date lists will be posted outside the office, outside TAG classrooms and in the YakShak.
9:00 – 2:10: TAG & Spirit Week Activities
Thursday September 5th: All students attend. 8:45 – 3:05
Continuation of TAG and Spirit Week Activities.
Friday September 6th: First day of regular classes. DAY 1. 8:45 – 3:05
Summer Break & First Week in September
The school office will be closed from July 2nd – August 26th, re-opening on Tuesday August 27th.
Tuesday August 27th – Friday August 30th: School office will be open 9:00 – 3:00pm.
If you wish to register a student please bring the student’s birth certificate, last report card, proof of address (BC Hydro statement, rental agreement etc…), and immigration papers (if applicable).

Starting in September 2019 School District #60 will be implementing a digital platform, ActivityRight, for permission forms and fee collection. Parents/Guardians will be able to view and approve permission forms online, as well as submit an online payment. At this time, ActivityRight is able to process credit cards or Visa/MasterCard Debit Cards. However, school offices can still accept in person payments and permission forms, if needed.
Further information and support for this new program will be shared with Parents/Guardians in September.
We are excited to offer you the opportunity to purchase your school supplies through School Start for the 2019/2020 school year. Please see the parent/guardian letter explaining the program as well as the Grade 7, and 8/9 school supply lists. You have the option of ordering online or completing and returning the order form and payment to the DKMS office. The deadline for paper orders is June 21, 2019. School supplies ordered through School Start will be shipped directly to your address.

Our next PAC meeting is on Tuesday April 16th at 6:30 in the library. If you ordered Purdy’s Chocolates, your orders will be available for pick up on Wednesday April 17th.

On Monday April 8th it is Green Shirt Day! Remember to wear your favourite green shirt or jersey to show support to the families, friends and community who were affected by the Humboldt Broncos bus crash last year.
Please find attached a copy of a parent/guardian letter from Northern Health regarding the recently announced Measles Immunization Catch-Up Program. A copy of this letter was emailed home to all DK parents/guardians.
