School photos will take place on Thursday September 20th. Picture order forms were sent home with students during the first week of school.
We would also like to invite all parents/guardians and students to our Fall Open House on Wednesday September 19th from 6:00-7:00 pm. Our first PAC meetings will follow the open house.
Friday September 21st and Monday September 24th are Non-Instructional Days.

Course change request forms will be available in TAG on Monday September 10th. Students will need to complete the request form and have it signed by a parent/guardian. Every effort is made to enrol students in electives of their choice. However, some students may not be enrolled in a course due to timetable restrictions and class size limits. Certain elective choices such as Musical Theatre, Band, and Hockey Academy limit the number of available options. Course change requests will be processed in the order in which they are received but this does not mean that all change requests can be made.
Please Note: Student schedules in the MyEducationBC Family Portal are not finalized. Our team is working to balance classes and schedules are still subject to change.
What a great day with the Grade 7 students!
Wednesday – Grade 7-9 students will attend from 8:45 – 2:09 pm.
- School buses will depart DKMS at 3:15.
- Students will need to bring a lunch. Our canteen will not be available until Thursday.
- Students will receive an envelop containing important paperwork. Please sign and return the forms ASAP.
Thursday – Regular bell schedule, 8:45 – 3:10. We have a number of school spirit and TAG activities planned. Our canteen will be available for students wishing to purchase their lunch.
Friday – Students will receive their schedule in TAG and begin regular classes.

The first day for Grade 7 students will be on Tuesday, September 4th 8:45 – 11:00 am. Our Grade 9 WEB Leaders have an exciting morning planned for the new Grade 7s. Students will not need their school supplies on Tuesday but should bring something to write with. Please keep in mind students may have changed classes and teachers as we tried to balance classes and class sizes. Lists will be posted outside each Grade 7 room.
Grade 8 and 9 students will start on Wednesday, September 5th at 8:45 am. We will be using our Wednesday schedule so students will be dismissed at 2:09 pm.
DKMS Office will be closed from July 2nd – August 26th.
Monday August 27th: School office will be open 1:00 – 3:00 pm.
Tuesday August 28th: School office will be open 9:00 – 12:00pm.
Wed. August 29th – Friday August 31st: School office will be open 9:00 – 3:00pm.
If you wish to register a student please bring the student’s birth certificate, last report card, and proof of address (BC Hydro statement, rental agreement etc…)
Tuesday September 4th: 8:45 – 11:00 am. Grade 7 students only.

Thursday September 6th – Friday September 7th: 8:45 – 3:10.

REMINDER! Paper-based orders are due no later than Friday June 22nd. You can continue to order online after this date.
We are excited to offer you the opportunity to purchase your school supplies through School Start for the 2018/2019 school year. Please see the parent/guardian letter explaining the program as well as the Grade 7, and 8/9 school supply lists. You have the option of ordering online or by completing the order form and returning the form and payment to the DKMS office. School supplies ordered through School Start will be shipped directly to your address.

What a great year we have had at DKMS! Our teachers have planned year-end celebrations for each grade, all taking place on June 25th. What an action-packed way to end our school year.
Grade 9 – Farewell Picnic @ Charlie Lake Provincial Park
Permission slips (yellow form) are due no later than Monday June 18th. Cost: $5.00. Students need to hand in their signed permission slips to the Barb at the office. If you have questions, contact Barb at the office or via email firstname.lastname@example.org.
Grade 8 – Fun & Games @ DK
No permission slip required as all activities will take place at the school. We will be providing lunch for the Grade 8 students.
Grade 7 – Community Activities
The Grade 7 teachers have planned a variety of activities. A permission slip was sent home with your student, please ensure this is returned ASAP. If you have questions regarding this day contact your child’s Grade 7 teacher.
Students going to the NP Gymnastics centre – Cost: $7.00
Note: a helmet is mandatory for any students going to the skateboard park.
