Bridging the Gap

This year at DKMS, our Bridging the Gap group is getting back out there. And we have t-shirts now! Logo courtesy of Paige Townsend, one of our talented students.

Bridging the Gap is a DKMS project head by one of our counsellors, Crystal Anielewicz. Students visit the Peace Villa Residential Care facility once a month to massage the shoulders of the residents (and staff). This is a wonderful opportunity for students at Dr. Kearney to give back to our community and to make lasting connections with many of the elders in Fort St. John. The students are taught basic massage techniques by RMT, Christine Sutherland, who visits us throughout the year. Christine has piloted Bridging the Gap in various communities in Canada and internationally. To see this project in action, watch the short You Tube film “Bridging the Gap Fort St. John.” https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZWTSRaZPXDE
