Grade 7 FSA Information

Students in Grade 7 will be writing FSA (Foundation Skills Assessment) tests between Monday, January 16th and Friday, February 24th.  The exact schedule has not yet been determined.  Because of the teachers’ strike, administration and exempt staff will be supervising the exams.

Students who are exempt from writing the assessments or parts of the assessments are:

  • students with IEPs documenting a disability that significantly impacts their performance and would not make participation meaningful
  • students with IEPs who need extensive adaptations to the point that it would create a hardship for the student
  • students receiving ESL support who have not yet reached a level of proficiency sufficient enough to allow them to provide meaningful responses

The exam has six parts and will be written in five sittings.  There are online and print-based components – students will be expected to have their WWP laptops charged and at school for the exams.

  • Part 1 – Online – Reading Comprehension (60 mins)
  • Part 2/3 – Print – Reading Comprehension/Short Writing (60 mins)
  • Part 4 – Print – Long Writing (60 mins)
  • Part 5 – Online – Numeracy (60 mins)
  • Part 6 – Print – Numeracy (30 mins)
