It is always a good idea to encourage your child to read for pleasure.  Keeping a journal can help maintain writing skills.  Reviewing basic math facts (addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division with whole numbers, integers and fractions) as well as using math and estimation in every day activities are also beneficial.  Challenge your child with mental math questions, brain teasers, and puzzles!
