RE: Halloween Costumes

For our school community to enjoy and celebrate Halloween respectfully, we ask that students keep the following guidelines in mind when selecting a costume:

  • Costumes that depict violence, alcohol, drugs, or vulgar language are not permitted.
  • Costumes containing full face masks or covering a student’s head are not permitted.
  • Costumes that stereotype someone’s culture, gender, heritage, or religion are not permitted.
  • Students may not bring fake, replica, or real weapons.

Students wearing costumes that do not meet these guidelines or are inappropriate for a school setting will be asked to change into regular school clothing.

If you have any questions regarding the appropriateness of your costume, please contact the Dr. Kearney Administration.

Thank you for your cooperation,

On time October – this month we are focusing on helping students get to class on time.  There has been a significant improvement this last week!

Leaving school property – If you would like your child to have permission to leave school property at lunch, please see Barb at the office for a form to document this. Student without the form completed are expected to stay on school property unless parents call in for that specific day. Please remind students they are not to be on our neighbours’ private property.

DK Purdy’s Fundraiser – https://kearney.prn.bc.ca/parents-students/dr-kearney-purdys-fundraiser-2023/

Reminders

Helmets are required for scooters, skateboards and bikes

Absences – To verify a child’s absence, please call Barb Chaput at 250 785 8378 or email her at bchaput@prn.bc.ca.  If you get an email about an absence that you think is a mistake, please call.

Bathroom stalls. We do have a policy that if more than one student is in a bathroom stall, we will send them home.  We find that usually, when more than one student is involved, it often also involves skipping class, vaping, vandalism, etc
