Dr. Kearney Middle School will be hosting their second annual Charity Musical Café Artisan Silent Auction this Saturday, May 13th at Whole Wheat and Honey from 6:00pm to 9:00pm. All money raised will be going towards the Rebecca Young Memorial Scholarship which is awarded to local graduating students to help in their post-secondary lives. Some of the items that are being auctioned off include beautiful homemade art pieces and wooden boxes, golf rounds, yoga classes, skin/body care baskets and gift certificates to name a few.
The scholarship was started in 2015 in memory of our dear friend and colleague Rebecca Young. Rebecca worked at Dr. Kearney from 2014-2015 and even though she was with us for a short time, she made an enormous impact on the students and her friends. Rebecca was known for her positive outlook on life and her dedication she had for her job. She was also well known for her love of music, which she incorporated regularly in her teaching and had produced her own self-titled CD. The scholarship was developed to remember Rebecca and continue spreading her love and support to students and others in the community.
The event will be hosted at Whole Wheat and Honey this Saturday and will feature items from lots of local businesses and artists. Come out and enjoy local entertainment by Jordyn Busche, Amber Busche and Emilee Aitken. Admission is by donation and there will be lots of great door prizes to win! Snacks and refreshments will be available also.
Doors open at 6:00pm with bidding going till 8:30pm. Hope to see you all there.
